Started new job. Some pros, some cons... the biggest con being the low-wall cubicles we sit in, so everyone can see me pick my nose and try to sneak on to fandom sites. Trying to keep both down to a minimum now. The pro is that I should be able to fix my laptop soon, so I may be able to read/write more.

So, I got a new job. Longer commute (will have to scrounge up a new beater somehow), more hours, more money. Will be able to quit the week-night hours at the part-time gig at least. Just returned from a trip to my in-laws. Remember in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" when Ian's parents go over to Tulla's parents for dinner and Tulla's mom invites the whole Big Fat clan over to meet them? That's kind of how it was. For a week. Except with less food. And I was both uptight yuppie parents. Luckily I got to take a few geeky breaks:

Plant something: planted lemon balm, basil, sorrel, rosemary, mint (transplanting actually), and two kinds of tomatoes: "Box Car Willie" and "Mortgage Lifter".

Harvest something: lamb's quarters. Lots and lots of lamb's quarters. I think with this plant you pull one and two grow in its place. The carrots and parsley both seem to be coming up, ( Read more... )

Today, Mr. latetothpartyhp announced that he'd always thought the Soviet national anthem was "very singable". He said he also really liked "O Canada".

(I tried to remember if I'd ever heard the Soviet national anthem. I'm sure I have -- I watched the Olympics in the 80's, but I wouldn't recognize it if I heard it.)
